Just acquired a 2488 and need help evaluating

I just got a real deal on a 2488 at a sale but have no idea if it works properly or not. I may want to keep it but also may want to pass it onto the next person and make a nice little profit. It's been forever since I messed around with recording gear and even then I barely got my feet wet. Are there any self tests this board has to verify it's functionality? What are some very basic things I can do and check to make sure at least the basic functions and features are working? I have a mic with XLR and also a keyboard I can use. Not looking to explore MIDI use.

2488 is a very complicated piece of gear. If you're not willing to commit to a high learning curve, just pass it on. Take a browse through the manual and you'll get what I mean. You can check many of the menu functions, see if the hd is functioning, etc. Basic track recording is pretty straightforward. Learning to use the effects is just arcane. Good luck, and have fun playing with all the switches and dials.
