Sudden change in playback speed Cubase Pro 8.5

I've been successfully working on a project, recording done, now final mixing. Worked on it today, took a break and then went back to it two hours later. Started up the machine and now everything, including other files, is playing back at what I suspect is 25% over speed (just an estimate). I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software - no difference. I've looked on threads with no success. I'm using a machine with i7 Dual Core, 16GB RAM and Windows 10 and no problems to date other than niggly things which get solved. Can anyone suggest anything? Thanks.

Hi jimmys69, you are right. I spent some time trying to solve and missed one setting - I was finally able to connect with Yamaha and the problem was in my USB interface which I had checked but missed the sample rate indication right in the middle of the panel!! Thanks for starting me in the right direction. Cheers.
