A reverse question about Cubase LE

OK, so I'm getting ready to finally track the rest of my album. The computer I had Cubase on is TOO NOISY for studio work (fans keep picking up on my overheads) so I want to put Cubase LE 1.0.8 OEM (which came with my Yamaha MW12) on my laptop and use it.

The problem is that my disc has gotten scratched and is refusing to install. I found numerous threads online from people who had the reverse problem (disc but no serial)...I have a serial but no working disc.

Anyone know where I might find one? (Cubase.net won't let me register; steinberg says contact your manufacturer (which since Cubase is owned by Yamaha from what I hear...I just did!), and Yamaha has yet to reply.)

Thanks!

You could open your computer case and either replace the fans with quiet ones(they don't cost much) or just leave the case open and unplug them while you track. Putting you computer on rubber pads on the floor also may help alleviate some noise. Isolating the computer in another room is a thought too. G/L

I agree with NYMorning - sort out your current machine.

There are 3 things that will make noise in your desktop pc:

-harddrive (you cant do much about this except buy a new one)
-fans, buying new ones will help, but specialist coompanies (antec, etc) will do silent ones
-CD/DVD drive - remove the disk and it won't make a sound.

If its a old PC, it may have a dirty earth/ground, but this is another problem entirely though :)
