i just got my M-audio Omni studio, ive installed it and set it up with any problems. i can playback and record into cubase, but when i select the "monitor" button on a track, i cant hear anything, even though i can record on that track...

how do i set this up?

i would like to be able to monitor my microphones live...

thanks for any advice

Provided you have the track armed to record and the monitor button on .... you should be able to hear live monitoring.
Check to make sure you have your output configured properly .... I would think they are as you say you can record and playback.

-Edit- Actually ... you may not even need to have the track armed for record.

ive been trying to fix this problem for a while and nothing seems to be working...

when "monitor" is on, i can see the mic input meter fluctuating on the "input" bus,... like you would expect... but the output bus meter doesnt move at all....

its frustrating

First, you do not have to have a track record enabled to monitor its input. Second, in your Device settings inside Cubase, make sure "direct monitoring" is not enabled. If so it reserves the monitor button for sound card apps such as MOTU's cue mix etc...
