just upgraded from Reaper

Oh yeah. I've never used Reaper before, but anything about Cubase is a big learning curve.

Thanks Jimmy. I am going to read the stickys here and watch the videos. the one thing weird is I have the original tracks to some stuff in WAV format, when I try to import them it says I do not have permissions. sure its a windows security thing. with being new to Cubase I am also new to windows 8.:facepalm:
