HELP REQUESTED: Arpeggiator Issue in Cubase 6

Greetings my musical folks.

I'm running in to a bit of an issue with my most recent search for Arpeggiators.

Having tried downloading a fair few good-looking free ones, Cubase (I'm running Cubase 6) is reading the .dll files as Instruments and not FX plugins, meaning I can only load the Arpeggiator up as an instrument track and not as an insert for another instrument... which is, you know, kind of what they're good for.

Short of rendering any track I ever want to even try and use an Arpeggiator on, loading it in as a .WAV audio file, and trying to get the Arpeggiator to send to that audio track (not exactly an efficient way to write), is there another way of somehow getting Cubase to realize that the .dll insert in my VSTi folder is a FX insert and not an Instrument one?

If not, is there any other way to at least be able to load an Arpeggiator and create a send to another Instrument channel?

Or failing that, does someone know of any Arpeggiators at all that are read as FX inserts and not Instrument ones?

Or am I, in my newbish state, just missing the application here?

Any questions or responses would be appreciated.

Cheers.
