Cubase Elements 8 - Audiorecord out of Midispur

Hi,

I'm a beginner regarding use of Cubase and Recording. My goal is to use sounds of my external synthesizer to create an audiofile. I'd like to record MIDI track first - send this to my synthesizer and record the audiotrack.

First of all my hardware:
PC Windows
M-Audio-Midi-Interface Fast track pro
XV-88 ROland - Synthesizer
Program Cubase 8 Elements

Connections:
Audio-Midi-Interface via Usb to PC
Synthesizer (Midi -out) to Audio-Midi-Interface (Midi-In)
Synthesizer (Midi -in) to Audio-Midi-Interface (Midi-out)
Synthesizer (Stereo Output L/R) to Audio-Midi - Interface (Stereo In 1/2)
Phones to Audio-Midi- Interface

Problem:
I created a new MIDI-track in Cubase and typed the melody in via the keys my Synthesizer. This is working without problems. Pressing Play I can listen to this and it uses the sound of my synthesizer.
I tried to do an Audio-Mixdown an created a wave-File - it worked but when playing it in Windows Media Player there is no sound.

Furthermore when creating a new audiotrack and when I'm playing on my synthesizer, Cubase gets no signal.

I'm just learning how to use all these devices, so perhaps the solution is totally easy, but I can't find it...

I would be very pleased if someone could help me!

Best regards

You have to plug the audio out of the synth into the sound card and record that in a new track. There are good reasons to record MIDI first, but I record them both at the same time. So, there is only audio on a audio track
