question about live recording

My question is this-

I am considering buying a Roland 880EX, primarily because it allows me to record 6 seperate tracks simultaneously - ie make a live recording and then mix the various levels later.

At least that is what I initially thought- now I am getting some indication from posts that this is not true?

Can someone who owns one please clarify if there is some restriction which stops this working - or maybe it isnt possible to record seperate tracks simultaneously at all?

It is possible...I just did it for a church choir production. I tapped direct outs of the mixing board directly into my VS880EX. 4 choir mics, 1 handheld vocal mic, and the CD track. No problem.

I also set the VS880EX recording time to LIV, so that I'd get the max amount of recording time.
