    Just a quick question...

in Pro Tools, when you drag audio files into a session, do they automatically get stored in that session's audio files folder, or is that only for audio that is recorded in Pro Tools?

Any audio in the session, whether recording, imported, altered (new copy is made).

The idea is that you can copy the session folder and go to a new setup without having to chase samples and imports.

There are a few exceptions but I think you are prompted anyway, like if you import a video it will ask if you'd like to copy the audio from it to the session folder.
