Pro Tools won't record!!!

I have my interface (M-Audio M-Track Plus) plugged in. I have the gain up. I have the microphone (Shure SM57) plugged in. I created an audio track. I record-enabled it. I clicked record on the transport. I pressed play. I played beautiful music. Nothing recorded.
There were no waves, no reading on the dB reader, and I couldn't hear anything, even when I turned up the monitoring on my interface.
I'm not new to Pro Tools and I've been able to record before with this setup, so I don't know what's up. Please help!!!

The only bit you left out was setting the input number on your audio track.
Have you selected mic input 1, or whatever it's listed as?

Is Protools recording silence (empty red region being created), or is it just not recording at all?
Have you changed anything, like the cable you're using?

It's just recording silence. I've tried multiple XLRs, but none of them worked. The dB reader on my interface lights up, but I can't hear it.

If the interface is showing input signal but Protools isn't then the issue is on the software side.

Double check your input path and the other available options.
If you have no luck go to Setup>IO the go to the input tab.
Select all inputs and hit delete (don't panic...it's fine).
Once they're all gone, hit default and ProTools will repopulate the list.

Now go back to PT main window, set your input path and try again.

I swear, I think I'm being tested sometimes.
Can you do a screen dump or two showing your input selection, the IO page, and the playback engine page?
Thanks.
