Pro Tools 6.9.3 Quit Unexpectedly When Launching

Hello,

I recently acquired a problem with my PT's 6.9.3 setup. When trying to launch PT's, I am receiving a "Pro Tools Quit unexpectedly" error message with the option to 'try again' or 'report' options. My Pro Tools HD interface seems to be working properly, lighting up, etc.

I trashed my prefs & also tried uninstall PT's, but do not have the 'clean uninstall' option in my Pro Tools/DigiDesign folder, so I re-installed 6.9.2, but still have the problem. I also tried to re-install under a brand new account name with no success.

I have Tiger OS X 4.11 & was running PT's 6.9.3

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hey,
That's an older setup than I'd have direct experience with but troubleshooting's troubleshooting, I guess.

When there's a report option, you usually get to view the report.
Could you post the contents of it or, if there's information you don't want to be public, PM it me please?

Has anything changed recently. Carried out any major PT or OSX updates, installed any software or hardware?

It may also be worth running AHT test rule out a lot of hardware issues. I've no idea when that was introduced, though. Is it a thing on the mac you have?

Hi There Steenamaroo,

Thanks for replying. Here is the report. I'm searching for the optical disk now to try the AHT test from that since I don't have the AHT disk.

Hey,
Thanks for the info.

I know you've covered some of this but...

Trash all listed preferences in
Hard drive > users > user folder > library> preferences
com.digidesign.protools.plist
DAEprefs (whole folder)
Digidestup.OSX
and anything else mentioning Protools

Also, for all hard drives on the computer
trash the contents of the Digidesign Databases folder.
There should be, at least,
Volume.ddb
Cache.wfm

That should sort it out.
