using remote to start/stop recording

OK, it's been too long since there's was a post in this forum, so here's my uncomfortable-silence-tip-of-the-moment:

If you have an Apple remote, like they tend to give you with a new computer (looks like an older iPod shuffle, sort of), you can queue up Logic to where you want to start recording, then walk across the room to where your mic(s) is, and point the remote at the mac and press the "menu" button, and it'll start recording. You can then push the main play/pause button to stop. I think I got that right. This is really convenient for solo recording, so that you don't have to either a) track right next to the mac, or b) run/stumble across the room to click the mouse.

I know this works with Logic Express 8 - it probably works with other versions, too.

NO WAY! Really? that's freakkin awesome! So Front Row doesn't pop up when you hit the menu button?

I'm super excited to try this out.

way.

This is why there are only 44 threads in the whole Logic forum -- it's so darn great that everybody's speechless :)

that's a great trick..thanks!

this is indeed a quiet forum...

just started using Logic Express and I like it alot...as I expected it's lovely for MIDI ...compared to PT though I find it not as strong on the edit front....chopping bits out in PT seems more intuitive than it does in Logic..
I find it a bit cumbersome in Logic....but I'm sure I'll get used to it...

What sound card do you use with Logic? I'm using my M-box

I use a MOTU Traveler that has been modified by Black Lion Audio. I wasn't too fond of it as far as sound quality goes before the mods, but now I love it.
