i'm considering buying apple logic express for just some basic recording purposes and i would like an informed opinion of what is the best or a good audio interface for it

OK, that's a little over the top.
But the analogy is almost the same - we'd need a great deal of additional information to make a sane recommendation.
1. What is your "basic recording purpose?" Guitar and vocals? MIDI keyboards? Small ensemble?
2. I'm assuming by the way you stated your question that you have little or no existing equipment (e.g. microphones, mic preamps, etc.). Is this correct?
3. Budget. "As little as possible" is an acceptable answer, however the results may correlate appropriately.
