To record and mix I use nTrack - but as my wave editor I use Cool Edit... I haven't done much wave editing though. 
To be honest, I'm not even aware of CEP's MIDI capabilities. I got CEP as a "graduation" from nTrack, but in the end, I couldn't bring myself to learn how to use something else - now it's just sitting on my desktop.
Anyway, I know that, technically, CEP can do what most soft samplers do (and more), but what makes samplers more friendly is their MIDI interface. I know that I can do it the long way and click on the the pitch shifter, but I would prefer to use a keyboard.
Alright alright, so my question is: how friendly is CEP when it comes to MIDI?
Also, how many of you have successfully used CEP as a soft sampler?
I was thinking about getting a sampler to interface with nTrack, but then I realized that Cool Edit might be just as good - if not better!
