I'm using CWENC (the free mp3 encoding software for cakewalk software) to create mp3 files for my Sonar 3 projects. CWENC gives the option of using constant bit rate encoding, average bit rate encoding, and variable bitrate encoding. The instructions explain that VBR is the the most advanced, however, some mp3 players can't play this; and that CBR may be the safest way to go to ensure the file is playable by anyone on any player.
Which is best? I'm leaning towards going the CBR route, at a 192 kbs or higher, but was wondering if anyone would suggest going the VBR route? (The instructions date back to 2002, so I'm wondering if those considerations still hold..!)
Thanks!
