Audio Clips vs. Source File

People,

In the everyday process of audio editing/comping . . . larger, original recorded tracks are of course split into smaller clips.

In SONAR XL 2.2, why are these newly created clips not recognized as individual files?

For example, I split a large clip into smaller clips; & move those to 3 new tracks for comping. If I then go to Event View for any of the new tracks, the original, full size source file is still listed as the audio event...as opposed to the smaller individual audio clips (& their info.)

...or...

If I select a small clip; & open WaveLab for editing, the entire original full size file opens in the app.

Why is this...& can it be changed? (I prefer the old method, under Pro Audio 9.)

Thanks,

One word: Apply Trimming. well, OK, two words. :)

Sonar uses non-destructive editing. To reduce a clip's size, you need to use the apply trimming command in order to make it edit permanent. After that, however, you will not be able to recover the deleted poritons through slip editing.
