What Alesis product?

I used to use some kit at a mates house but I can't remember what it is?
this was the set up:

Guitar --> midi pickup --> Alesis ????? --> PC

The Alesis ????? was a unit with a lcd display that would make the guitar sound like a 12string or a grand piano or a drum set or a steel guitar. It puts the notes I played into cakewalk and I could then change the instrument using the patches in the Alesis ?????

Question is, what was the Alesisi ?????

I could do with one.

Possible answer...

If it had sounds other than normal guitar sounds and you needed a midi pickup to access it, it was almost certainly a synthesizer.

Maybe an S4 or a QSR? Both are out of production but are available used.
