Weird noise on Multimix Digital FX

A friend just got his Alesis Multimix 8 USB. Everything works like a charm, well... everything but the FX unit.
When I turn up the FX return knob I get all kind of weird digital noises, no matter which preset I chose or if I send anything or not to the FX.
:( Anyone had this problem? How can it be fixed?
 
Nevermind. I spoke with him today and he said it's working perfectly now :)
Self-repair? Nice feature Alesis!;)
