Monitor Two + eq + amo question

hi,
I'm using a pair of Alesis Monitor Two, with and old Ken Brown amp, that has a simple 5 band eq section on it.
To listen to a recorded CD, I have to set the eq to the V position, in order to get a "fine" bass and high resolution.

Now, if i want to MIX music, shoudl I keep this V position or set it to flat ?

Please help,

thanks,

Keep it as flat as possible when mixing. That way when you get a good mix it will sound very similar no matter what it's played on. That's the point of having specialized monitors for mixing and not just using a home stereo, etc.

Of course, if you are used to listening to these monitors with the EQ setup you mentioned, you might have the tendancy to make everything sound that way when you mixing with them flat. Overcompensating for the lack of bass and treble you aren't hearing since the EQ has been adjusted. Personally, I would leave them flat even when listening to other music in order for my ear to get a good feel of how stuff sounds through them that way. Just my opinion though.
