Can I use and Adat just for the AD's?

My AI-3 converter died on me the other day!
I was using it to convert AD into my Motu 828. I have an old Blackface Adat that I havent used in a while but still works, is there a way I can use it just for the conversion process, then go into my 828?

If the 828 has a Lightpipe input, absolutely. Set the recieving device to slave to the incoming ADAT digtal stream, and set the ADAT to record analog and you're off to the races.

Yeah the 828 has a lightpipe input, I just wasnt sure that the Blackface would send an incoming signal directly thru the converters and also show up at the lightpipe output without it being on tape already!
