Relationship Between Buffer Size and Buffer Size

Hi Everyone,

In VST32/5, I can configure my Disk Block Buffer Size in the Audio System Setup. Addtionally, I can configure a Buffer Size in the ASIO Control Panel. Do these two refer to the same buffer? Should they be the same number? Currently the former is set at 64kb and the latter at 256; I have no problems with performance or latency, although I can lower the latency to 1ms if I reduce the ASIO buffer to 32. Is this recommended?

Thanks in advance!

…”Samples Per Buffer” in the ASIO Control Panel refers to the amount of memory used to “copy” (record) audio—i.e. a larger value will use more space on the hard-drive, thereby providing better audio-quality (resolution) for playback…the Disk Block Buffer Size is a chunk of memory (empty space) that must be filled before it is sent to the hard-drive (writing); it is also the amount of memory used to hold audio retrieved from the hard-drive during playback (reading).
