There are a lot of free VST softsynths out there. I use Acid, but not really Sound Forge. Having said that, below is a link to a bunch of free soft synths. I highly recommend Synth 1. The download page is in Japanese, but if you use Chrome, Google can translate it into English so you can actually read the page. Also, there are literally hundreds of user-created patches that you can download, so the sounds are pretty much unlimited...
