Terrible sound quality when playing a .wav file through Boss Looper

Okay I recently picked up a Boss RC-3 Loop Station. I read in the manual that you can transfer .wav files from your computer to the looper, which is cool I thought cuz then I can transfer backing tracks to the looper and practice my guitar solos over the backing tracks.
But when I playback the .wav backing tracks the sound quality is absolutely terrible. Just horrible. I can't use it if it sounds this bad.

I got my guitar plugged into the Input A jack and I got a cord going from Output A into my POD X3 Pro.

I even tried to rerender my backing track at a softer volume using Reaper but it still sounds horribly distorted. Terrible.

Can anybody help?

Ummm, this may sound silly, but do you have a CLEAN sound dialed into the POD? If you've got an amp emulation, FX, etc on the POD, then your looped WAV sample is going to pass through that sound chain, too.
