I've been thinking about doing this for a while now. It's been possible for a number of years but not really worth it until the 2nd hand price of these machines came down. With them to be had now in the $US500-$700 price range it now starts to get feasible. One midi cable later and they're all happily sync'd up and feeding the monitor matrix and master recorder.
16 channels of XLR input at once, 32 tracks of mixdown and, ah, 'dual' processors.
Ha ha.
It's still the cheapest 16 XLR input option for my kind of thing.
The first serious job they will be doing will be a live EP recording of a five piece blues band going unplugged acoustic with a combination of dynamic, condenser & ribbon close and ambient mikes, probably sometime in January.
