m box pt 6.9 le?

Hey e'budy.
I have an old m-box with pt le 6.9 and I've run into a snag after installing
the daw on my old g5 running ox10.4.11.
when I open a new session I do everything it instructs and when I
try to save I get this message "session must be on an audio record volume"
The only reason I'm doing this is because a friend uses the same pt daw and would
like me to record with it so I can move my session to his daw and vice versa.
What do I need to do to get the session operational?

Hi there.

If you open Pro Tools and go to Window>Workspace, it will open a window that gives you the status of each drive.

It will either say R, P or T for record, playback or transfer.

If it lets you, set the drive that contains your session to record, and if it doesn't let you, write back and let us know the details of the drive. (File system etc)

Thanks Steenamaroo; I'll do what you suggested but now the program won't open.
I double click the alias and the startup box appears and the loading bar stops
about 1/4 of the way the box disappears and the "program quit suddenly" box appears.
Whats up???
:)

Steenamaroo: I used the "tool" (i think) and I'm back where I started.

"If it lets you, set the drive that contains your session to record"
I went to "Window>Workspace" I see the drives but not sure what to do with them.
Does pt on a mac require a clear drive or can I save to my main drive?

Thanks for your patience

s:)

It doesn't require a clean drive.
They recommend that you record to a seperate drive (ie. not the system drive), but it's not essential.
I record to system drive on my mac book pro, but it's usually only light sessions.

In workspace/window do you see a letter beside each drive? Either P, T, or R?
Click on the letter to change whether the drive is set to playback, transfer or record if it will let you.

I think I may have found the problem.
My version of PT is 6.9 and after some searching I think I need to update to 6.9.2.
I went to the Avid sight but their downloads only go down to 7. is there perhaps
a way around this?

Thanks Steenamaroo, you've saved the day.
That did the trick and I'm up and running.
However when I use my earphones I'm getting alot of noise,
so much so that it's almost unusable.
The interface (m-box) is on a table directly above my tower so could it be
picking up computer noise and if so how can I remedy that?
My other daws ie; Cubase and Logic use a presonus firepod (directly above the mac) plugged into a
rokit sub and satellites and I never have this issue.
Also: where at avids site is the fix you gave me? I'll probably need it for future reference.

:)
