Guitar Pro5 sounds different as plugin in Pro Tools 10 as opposed to standalone mode

Hi all,
Does anybody have experience in this? I have tried all solutions posted in thread around but to no avail...
1. I have tweaked around with input volumes in standalone and plugin both. At the same input setting, the standalone is louder/has more gain.
2. I am using the same soundcard M Audio Fast Track USB for both. So the soundcard is not a variable.
3. The plugin sounds as if it already has reverb type effect (I haven't tweaked any bus in PT10). Also, if i add the reverb in the plugin, the overall gain of the tone reduces.
4. The plugin sounds more distorted than the standalone version.

I use -
Win 7 64 bit
8 GB RAM
i5 3470
