    Mackie Onyx 1640 and cool edit question

    Has anyone used cool edit pro with the mackie Onyx 1640 with the firewire option? http://www.mackie.com/products/onyx1640/index.html

    how well does it record 16 channels at once and how hard does it tax the cpu?

    It should not be a problem if you have the software for the mackie installed. your pc should handle it without any problems assuming you have at least a pentium 2. The audio files will be rather large so you should have a rather large HD as well.
