User patterns won't permanently erase in my new SR18

Hi guys,

Newbie here.

Firstly, I have read page 34 of the manual and I believe I'm following the correct steps to the letter.
I've been through it several times. Same result.

I delete the User pattern and fill, (definitely not trying to erase a Preset pattern here) switch the unit off, turn it back on and the old pattern's still there!

It wasn't this hard with my old SR16.

do you not have to press save/copy and rec buttons before powering off to keep changes?

I don't think so man. It doesn't actually say that in the manual that I can see.
Certainly worth a try!
I'll try it tonight, thanks!
