Hard drive error message

Put a new 80gb hard drive in HD24, error message reading "hard drive reset check jumper" jumper set as manufacturer recomends for master or single. Will load up if keep trying but takes a long time, never had this problem before. Hard drive Western digital caviar blue. Help anyone?

probably not the issue but to rule it out... need to format it??? wrong format??

know where you can borrow a drive test the cablees and connectors???

Have swapped caddies, drive 1to2 2to1; problem only occurs with the particular hard drive in caddy

and can you mount it in the box you are useing now???

Yeh, no problem with mounting
