ADAT XT 20 Help

I have a ADAT XT 20 that wont play, the light on the play button will only blink, And not play.
I just picked this one up.
This happens in the Chain or Stand alone,
Any ideas where to start?
1584 Hrs on the head,
Doesnt matter what tape i use.

When you power it up do you get an error code on the display?

I'd start here and see what happens.

We've had ADAT's. Cool application of the technology, but they have their limitations. Most errors are caused by limitations of the tape transport mechinism, which seem to cause the digital encoding system to not be able to record the digital code to the S-VHS tape, so Track Rat's suggestion is a good one.

Also, the tape IS formated isn't it?

Also, when you put in a formated tape, does the display read the tape location (or DATA if it's near the beginning of the tape, not the leader)?

It is Formatted, The tape works fine in my other machines,
The display showes The time. And now its working fine!!

Or maybe you bought a dud. Really hope you didn't pay too much.

its working now,
I only paid $35 for two of them.
Pretty much got them for parts.
I have 3 in my studio that i use daily with no problems
