hi guys, another little question i have; when exporting your tracks to use them as stems, it converts them into wav files. just one track that i have takes up nearly 3gb of data in wav format. would it be any easier to convert them into mp3 first?

to be perfectly honest, i dont know an awful lot about the different between wav and mp3. will the mp3 stems sound as good live?

cheers, and happy new year!

Hi, 3 gb of data is really a lot. The track must be incredibly long or have a huge sample rate. A three minute track (or stem) sampled at 44.1 kHz - 24 bit should be around 50 Mb. I would suggest you convert all stems to 44.1 kHz - 24 bit. This gives you the industry standard quality for mixing and mastering. Mixing and mastering from mp3 is not a good idea in my opinion. A wav file holds much more audio information (more details) and that's what you need when mixing the elements together.
