Vocal Effect

In the swamps of Jersey
I usually just use my version of Sonar 7 for editing and mixing. I record on an Alesis HD24. I have to record a song with a "chipmunks" vocal. Is there an effect or technique on Sonar that will give me that vocal effect.
Thanks

have you tried takin the pitch of the wave up a few steps??

That or even change the tempo of the wave...it'll make it sound sped up which usually makes the "chipmunk" sound...hope this helps...let me know if you've already tried these steps...and if so I'll try to help further.

That's pretty much what you would do with tape. Playback/overdub at a slow speed. Bring the tape back up to normal speed and you would get the effect. I was hoping to be able to do it with an effect. Thanks for the advice.

Change the formant?

You could change the clip to a V-Vocal clip and adjust the formant.

1.) Right click your clip -> V-Vocal -> Create V-Vocal Clip (the shortcut is Shift+V)
2.) Under 'Formant Control,' turn the "Shift" nob all the way up.

The changes are instant so you can adjust it while you're listening to the clip. You can also push it further by clicking the 'Formant' button at the bottom and dragging the red line that runs through your waveform up.

Hope that helps! It's my first post here. :D

Take care,
-Dustin
