USB Audio only records mono

I recently purchased a USB audio adapter. Similar to the following (see attachment):

The “headphone” (sound out) works great but the “microphone” (line in) only records mono. I tried to change the Control Panel > Sound > Recording > Microphone > Properties > Advanced tab to “2-channel” as I have done for other devices but it does not have that option (only 1 channel). Does anyone know if this is possible or do these things only allow mono? It was very cheap so I don’t expect too much. I’m running Win10.

Thanks,
Steve

Sounds like it's only mono, but that's not a bad thing as you're really only working in mono with a single microphone anyway.

Actually I am using this as a "line in" from a mixer (stereo). I guess I was just hoping. I have a Behringer UCA 202 doing what I want so no biggie.

Thanks again

There is only one mic input so the signal either has to be summed to both channels giving a central image or, panned to one side or the other. I think most folks would prefer the central image choice?

Dave.
