Teac 144 motor stopping

Hi all!
I just dusted off my very old TEAC 144 tascam series and (re) experienced some issues.
The motor stops after a few seconds after I press play, forward, rewind.
Also the counter does not "count". It just stands still.

I have a ton of recordings made on this deck that I would love to go through.

First thing I would do is replace all the rubber belts. They may be sticky, dry and loose, or broken. Idler tires too.
