sr16 midi

Can any of you tell me of a sampler that will be best to use when trying to trigger samples via midi? I would like to construct loops via midi, but using the sr16's sequencer... as if I were just making a drum loop. Also, would I be able to use the sampler's sounds and the drum machine's sounds at the same time?

I have an HR16 (the predecessor to the SR16)and an Alesis MMT8 8 channel sequencer that I midi connect to a Roland keyboard with general midi.Also the computer.Recently,I bought a generic pc and the sound card came with a CD of the yamaha XG soundset.Very nice!I highly recommend them.
