SR-18 firmware update - unit is dead!

Hi,
I tried to updat my SR18 Firmware from Rev 1.01 to 1.02 by using MIDI-OX and the file I downloaded from Alesis site.
After pressing "REC" when powering up, I started the programming.
The SR18 started counting up.
After 185Kb the display showed:
DOWNLOAD
Csum!
I assume it has a checksum error.
I waited for the MIDI-OX to finish send the entire file, turned off the unit, tried to turn on again,the unit is dead!
The only thing that can be done is to power on while holding the rec and try to burn again.
Tried it, and now it gets to 215Kb and stuck again on Csum!
I'm using MAudion Deltat 1010 MIDI to burn.

Need help.

Thanks will try the delay issue later on today.
Yes, the screen shows "MIDI BAUD".

The Csum! Error occurs randomly, once I've got to 420K and some times to 140K.
It seems the link is very noise sensitive.
