pops and crackles, hardware or software?!

So i've just hooked up my new Motu 8pre, and with it being new im not sure if its a software or hardware thing, but when im'm using some vst's I get crackles

I also get this when using amplitube but i also got it with my old Tascam US122 which is what makes me assume its a software thing

Is it to do with buffer size or anything?

Any help at all would be appreciated

You just need to adjust your latency settings. No big deal.

Go into the audio preferences, click the asio settings button, then raise the latency setting.
