New Sequencing Plugin: Create melodies, basslines, chord progressions and custom arpeggios

Toneworks Catalyst is a VST/AU sequencing plugin for electronic music producers.



The plugin features a step sequencer, a harmonizer and and an arpeggiator that can be used individually or in combination. Catalyst also acts as a host for VST/AU synth plugins - a kind of "micro DAW" that plugs right into your favorite, full-size audio workstation.

Creating synth parts in Catalyst is a very different experience though - nothing like using the piano roll of traditional DAWs:

• In Catalyst, melodic patterns are created in a step sequencer, which is a more immediate and natural way to compose for many electronic genres.
• Single notes can be fed into the Harmonizer and transformed into chords in your chosen key - anything from two-note power chords to super wide pad chords with complex voicings.
• Finally, chords can be routed to the arpeggiator and turned into sweeping melody lines using custom arpeggio patterns.

Since Catalyst hosts synth plugins and outputs audio, there is no need for complex MIDI routing and extra tracks in the host DAW. Catalyst also features parameter sequencers that allow you to automate parameters on the hosted synth plugin, much like the "parameter locks" found on many hardware devices.

Catalyst helps you compose both classic and modern synth parts and opens up a whole new world of ideas that would be difficult to come up with in the piano roll of a traditional DAW. Since Catalyst will only produce notes and chords in the key you choose, it's also a great tool for produces that don't know much about music theory.
