Live synth...

I need a live synth that won't be running midi while at shows so it will need good sounds (my most used are saws and strings) and should be synth semi-weighed.

I really just want the best for a good price (hopefully under $1000 at least) because I do plan to eventually buy a workstation, I just landed a band a little quicker than I thought I would. Any help is appreciated.

For use in the kind of band your alias implies I would recommend you look at the Alesis Ion and Micron. Or if you wanted to go upmarket and spend a little more scan your local craigslist for a used Korg...
