How to set up mono recording?!! NEED HELP FAST!

I figured it out...figures...hours and hours with nothing...then i post my question...and boom...its practically right under my nose and i finally see it...sorry for the wasted post
 
In acid 6, when you arm the track, (typically) a little '1' or something shows up beside the arm button. click on that and then select a mono input. for me, when i do that it will say 1L, but thats irrelevent in my case.
 
The microhpone is single and does not require a mono track recording. Recording a mono record on a stereo track mono signal sensor just to one side and nothing from others when there is nothing to be merged into exactly what everyone here has already said. There is a way to record your microphone mono on a stereo track, but it will not be the stereo signal will be identical for both left and right audio and lose 50% of the space required.
