Hip-Hop Brushes?

Haven't been on here in awhile anyways im in a band and we are creating a jazz meets hip-hop song. I wanna play brushes, and thought it would be great to play a hip-hop brush beat... and thats the problem :/ im having trouble getting a good feel out of it. has anyone ever attemped this?

I haven't done it much personally, but I have some listening for you. Check out "Dear God 2.0" off "How I Got Over" by The Roots. The whole tune isn't brushes, but the intro sounds like it's with brushes. As for general straight (as opposed to swung) brush playing, check out JoJo Mayer. He doesn't play with brushes a lot, but it sounds incredible when he does. I don't recall the track he does it on (with Nerve), but I think there are some clips on drummerworld. Best of luck!
