Guitar pedal power supply question

I'm looking at a pedal requiring a 9V DC 35ma power supply. Would any supply with the proper barrel tip connector work, as long as it was rated at more than 35ma ? If I got one rated at 100ma or 2A, would that be too much, or does the pedal only draw what it needs?

You need only be concerned with voltage, not excess current.

As long as the voltage is correct, you will only draw the current needed. A good 1 or 2A supply can run multiple pedals without overloading anything. You won't burn anything up using a bigger capacity supply. Otherwise you couldn't run your 12v 1A car radio off of a 12V 600CCA automotive battery!

Make sure you have the proper tip for the plug. Most pedals are center pin negative, however a few have center pin positive.
