I've been getting used to my new setup: a new W7 laptop w/ i5 processor, 6mb ram, etc. and a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB interface and Sonar 8.5.
I had no problems with mixing and 1 organic project, but then I began importing audio to build another project. I started getting crackles, clicks, crashes and dropouts during recording and it was driving me nuts! I've done everything - searching the forums, optimizing Windows, unplugging other USB stuff, reinstalling drivers, and cursing

In short, I imported some audio that did not match my current recording bit depth. I made sure all the bit depth and sample rates matched everything in the project. Problem solved!
