i have cakewalk music creator 2 because i only have windows 98 (hand-me-down computer) and no matter what i do i always gets an echo when i didn't even set it to echo...does anyone have an idea for what the problem is?

I'm not familair with Music Creator, but most likely you have Input Monitoring enabled, and your computer is not fast enough to allow this. You need to disable Input Monitoring. Check your help file for instructions on how to do this.

The only downside is that you will not be able to record while listening to any of Cakewalk's effects, e.g., reverb. (However, you can apply them later, after you record.)
