Anyone use ESI interfaces?

I dont want to get off of the ESI main question but the Clarett 2+ isnt that expensive used and whats kind of cool is they stuffed a Optical ADAT on it so a person could easily add 8qty more inputs to it with a ADA8200 or something...when doing a larger recording, and then unplug the 8 channel and walk off with the Clarett 2 for your HR solo stuff.

All these USB generations get confusing ...

I read the ESI manuals on the 108(10 qty mic preamps...nice) the 16 actually cost more but was only 4qty mic pre's and all Line In etc...the ESI seemed to have a basic software setup, which I prefer, more like the Tascam and Behringer approach....vs....RME,Focusrite, Presonus who all have their CUEMIX, MIXCUE, MIXCONFIGURE, etc...
These are USB 2 units which is another Buyers decision to make , do you buy used with USB 2.0 or USB 3 or USB -C...or Thunderbolt with USB compatible?
