Akai M-9 reel to reel

Hello!

I found an Akai M-9 reel to reel (1/4") at a local pawn shop this weekend. I have heard that reel to reels are sometimes a good deal, especially for those new to recording (which I am). I've looked all over the net trying to find information on it, but haven't come up with anything. Does anyone have any experience with this machine? Would it give better quality than my Tascam Porta02? (And is $65 a good price for one?)

If it's a four track with four meters, that works, it would be worth it. Check the head for wear.
 
There are a couple of M-8's pictured on ebay. One is around $10 and one is around $150. I don't know if these are similar to the one you are looking at, but they look like 2 tracks.
