I remember a load of kids at school being into it with those massive cassette box sets. They were usually the scally kids and they'd get like 8 tapes from the market for about a tenner. Can you imagine sitting through 12 hours of this speeded up vocal and tinny synth crap? Horrific.

they only say EDM in the USA, I have found it's an american thing more than a english thing, they just love meta genre's.

Ah right, didn't know this - I suppose it's not that different from when all these sub-genres get lumped together in record shops over here as 'dance & urban' then?

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. They were usually wearing baseball caps (from the same market) which were covered in fake Gucci logos.
