Not to rain on your unit but the good stuff is the model without the R in it. I should know I worked there and still fix machines of that type. Just finished a TSR8 and it worked but not like the Tascam 58.
As long as you can deal with no tape monitoring,the MSR and TSR were great machines.Nothing like a 48 or 58 but a step up from the 38 in features- Dynamic tension system, DBX, bargraph meters,switchable top track for SMPTE,memo points,and no bottom end sucking head transformers-also no problems with flaky motherboards
