Been reading up on LEDs lately, and my curiosity got the best of me.

    Any drawbacks for this use???????

Should work. You'll need a 12volt 1-2 amp power supply. Easy enough.

The color temp might be kind of harsh; 6500- 7500 is blue-ish.

Right now, before they put away all the Christmas lighting, check out the LED Xmas lights.

I bought a couple of packs of white led xmas lights for $4 each at BigLots and mounted them under a couple of planter stands in my living room.
Low power usage, lots of light and no heat (unlike the halogen lights I used to have there and 2 packs cost less than one halogen replacement bulb)
