    Suggested technique for vocal mxing?

I am currently working with vocal tracking and mixing. Being relatively new to mixing, I have a good question that may benefit many. I focus many on metal bands, and vocals are probably the most important thing to me in a mix. I would like to have some tips on tracking and mixing metal vocals.

using a good mike maybe a shure sm7 and using a distressor to control dynamics
for heavy rock you need to keep control of the vocals to make them sit in the track by keeping the recording very consistent
dont over compress on the way in try it in the mix
